I hope you’ve been doing well since last week. It’s Thursday evening in Los Angeles as I write this. Yesterday was Valentine’s Day, and back home in Hong Kong, today is Chinese New Year’s eve. By the time you get this newsletter, it will be Chinese New Year’s day, the first day of the Year of the Dog! I love dogs, so I think this will be a great year! So, whether you celebrate Chinese New Year or not, my sincerest wish for everyone is to have an amazing year ahead filled with love, warmth, happiness, and wisdom. Oh, and tons and tons of hugs. And if you have a dog, give them a hug from me! 🙂

A few days ago, on Sunday actually – I did another FaceBook LIVE and the subject that I was guided to speak about was “What would I have done differently if I knew then what I know now?” In this case, I was referring to dealing with illness. When I was diagnosed with cancer all those years ago, I approached it with a tremendous amount of fear – which is quite natural! The word cancer stirs up fear in most of us!

When I was dealing with the illness, I was fearful of the illness, fearful of the treatments, and fearful of death. I felt as though I was in a lose-lose situation. At that time, I felt I was trying everything, in terms of all the different healing modalities, but nothing seemed to work! I tried natural treatments, conventional treatments, and other alternative healing modalities, but frustratingly, my health continued to deteriorate! I was following every “anti-cancer” diet, taking all the supplements, and was constantly stressed out about making sure that I was following all the protocols and “getting it right”. I followed everything to a “T” and would panic when what I needed wasn’t available. I was so fearful about getting it wrong! In working so hard at getting it right, I didn’t realize that all of this just added to the stress and fear I was already going through with the illness. And to top it off, I was just getting sicker, instead of better! Nothing seemed to be working, and that made me more obsessive about trying even harder!

So nowadays, when people ask me for step by step instructions on how to heal from their illness, I am often hesitant to do so. We are all different, and I don’t want to add to the stress of their illness, by giving them more dogma, more instructions, more restrictions. In fact, if I knew then what I know now, I would have reacted to the illness completely differently. Instead of instantly researching anti cancer diets, protocols, and adding to the stress by obsessing about all the treatment plans, I would have consciously worked towards removing stress from my life! Including all the stress that caused me to get cancer in the first place! And I would have replaced it with joy!
