Energy as a Currency

Are there times when you feel like you’re in a rut? You wake up in the morning, and see the day ahead looks very much like yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that? If this is the case, and you find your mood is a little low, or you feel very bored, would you take the opportunity to do something different if it helped your climb out of that rut?

You’ve heard me talk about our energy a lot. We have energy that goes up and down, and with it, our moods, thoughts and physical health shift. When we are in a rut, our energy gets stagnated. We do the same thing because we expect the same thing. So if you want to shake things up, I’d like to offer you this exercise:

  • Take stock of how you feel in this moment (bored, excited, blasé, sad, upbeat).

  • If you’re feeling on the lower end of life, like you're bored or upset, note how deeply you feel this energy.

  • If you had to look at your energy currency level, would you be close to having an empty account?

  • If your account is low, consider choosing to do something that would add to your account and bolster your energy currency balance. Would one of these help your energy account increase?

    • for 10 minutes today, do something that makes you smile

    • once today eat something small that you normally deny yourself (as long as it doesn’t actually harm you)

    • at some point today call a friend or relative you miss and tell them you love them

    • spend 10 minutes with a pet truly engrossed in the present moment

get outside and look up at the sky and down at the earth and see their beauty

  • After you do one of the things listed above (or something else of your choosing) check your energy currency

    • Ask yourself if your account balance is higher

  • Repeat as much as you wish.

The more you consider that your energy is a life currency, and that you can maintain a better account balance through some small daily choices, the more you will notice you’ve filled that rut that you were in before!

Much love,

Anita
